$500 Workstation/Home PC

Starting today’s lists is this $500 workstation. This is not a gaming PC. It does not have dedicated graphics. This PC is for home or office use. This PC will run wicked fast for years to come and not slow down after a single month of use like those cheap $300 PCs you get at the big box stores.

Starting with the CPU the 3400g is a 4-core 8-thread workhorse. We paired that with an Asus Prime B450 which has all the features we need and is a pretty good mATX board. For the memory, 16gb of DDR4-3000 will keep the PC cruising along no matter how many Chrome tabs ar open. Storage on this PC are broken into 2 drives. The first is a 256GB NVME drive with 512MB of cache (DRAM). This is the drive to install your system on. The second is a 2TB Seagate Barracuda. I love the price and performance of this drive and it will be making a constant appearance on the lists today. We are putting all this in this awesome case from Thermaltake. With a PSU shroud, cable management ports, and a tempered glass side panel this pc will look great on the desk of your office. To power the PC I went with this semi-modular PSU from EVGA. It has everything we need and even overhead for future upgrades if you wanted to add extra drives or a graphics card later on.
