7/24/2020 $2000 Higher-Level Gaming and Production
CPU:
AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor ($479.00 @ Amazon*)
What can I say about this CPU? It’s an absolute powerhouse. 12-cores 24-threads of Matisse Zen 2 CPU goodness on the 7nm Process. This CPU isn’t the most powerful on my lists today but dang near.
CPU Cooler:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition 42 CFM CPU Cooler ($37.99 @ Amazon*)
This cooler is well matched to the 3900XT. And with its all-black look adds to the black and classy look I try to do with my builds.
Motherboard:
Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard ($190.00 @ Amazon*)
We are going with the Asus Tuf board for this build because the Asus Tuf lineup are a time tested products that show to be stable over time. Reading through the reviews all the negativity doesn’t seem to realize how to enable XMP and are manually upping the speed without upping the voltage or changing the timings. If you can’t find XMP in the BIOS look for D.O.C.P. as Asus sometimes calls it that in the BIOS.
Memory:
G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory ($149.99 @ Amazon*)
16GB of 3600 is good. But, 32gb of DDR-3600 is better.
Storage:
Patriot VPN100 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($144.99 @ Amazon*)
Stepping it up to 1tb of NVME goodness for this build. More than enough room for a good selection of games and your system. And yes, It has DRAM.
Storage:
Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($58.00 @ Amazon*)
For what you don’t want crowding up the NVME 2TB of storage for you to use.
Video Card:
EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8 GB XC GAMING Video Card ($759.99 @ Amazon*)
This card is the second most powerful gaming card you can get without going Titan RTX. I think that is enough said. For you streamers, it also has the Turing NVENC encoder. The Turing NVENC is a separate chip on the Graphics card which takes stream encoding stress off the GPU and CPU allowing you to run your games at max performance while having a nice smooth stream. Furthermore, for you production users, NVIDIA's new Studio Driver has changed the game allowing your hardware accelerated programs to better utilize the computing power the GPU provides. You can find the Studio Driver here.
Case:
Deepcool MATREXX 55 V3 ADD-RGB 3F ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.98 @ Amazon*)
This case maintains a great look with a touch of RGB. A great addition to this build.
Power Supply:
EVGA B5 850 W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($129.99 @ Amazon*)
This Fully Modular PSU should be more than you ever need, Make sure to save the extra cables for future upgrades.
Optional WIFI/Bluetooth Card:
EDUP WiFi Dual Band 5GHz/2.4GHz PCI-E with Bluetooth 5.0 ($29.99 @ Amazon*)
I have been using these cards in both of my personal cards as well as I believe something like 32 client builds. These cards are awesome offering reliable WIFI and strong Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
Total w/WIFI: $2061.32**
Total w/o WIFI: $2031.33**
